Senior Anaesthetist, Flinders Medical Centre
Aileen was born and raised in the town of Ayr on the West Coast of Scotland. She studied medicine at Edinburgh University where she graduated in 1988. She then spent 14 years serving as a doctor in the British Army where she trained as an anaesthetist. She spent many tours in Northern Ireland during the time of the “troubles” and experienced many soldiers with PTSD. After completing her anaesthetic training in the UK, she came to Adelaide in December 2000 meaning to stay for just one year. She is still here! Aileen currently works as a senior anaesthetist at Flinders Medical Centre where she has a special interest in liver transplants and assessment of high- risk patients.
