Lea is a registered Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Exercise Scientist and the Director of Capital Rehabilitation Professionals, based in the ACT. Lea worked for well over 20 years as a Registered Nurse all around Australia and overseas as a military spouse. She is a mother of 2 professional Daughters, and soon to be Grandmother. Having settled in the ACT in 2000, Lea worked at the Canberra Hospital in cardiac rehabilitation, and at Duntroon Military Hospital as an Exercise Therapist. In 2012, Lea established Capital Rehabilitation Professionals and continues to provide Exercise Physiology services based in the state of the art Stellar Health and Wellness centre in Woden. She is a Cert 4 Personal Trainer and group exercise instructor with over 25 years of experience. Lea currently teaches group based cycle, hydrotherapy, DVA rehabilitation and oversees the “healthy hearts” class; a popular stage 3 program for post cardiovascular events. Lea has extensive experience providing Exercise Physiology assistance to injured and unwell members of the Australian Defence Force, the general public and DVA clientele in the ACT region. She believes in the importance of evidence based practice and a multidisciplinary approach to aid in her clients recovery. One on one sessions with many clientele diagnosed with PTSD, has provided Lea with a deeper understanding of the difficulties and challenges her clients face during in their treatment. She has seen first hand the benefits exercise can have in treating and supporting their physical and mental wellbeing. Lea understands the importance of developing trust with her clientele, recognising personal characteristics and building a sense of purpose towards their improved quality of life. Lea describes Exercise Physiologists as health care professionals that assess and treat the body as a whole, not just an injury or a condition. Exercise Physiologists design and implement appropriate exercise interventions to improve clients overall wellbeing, pysical and mental health.
