Mark Black

Project Officer, Fire & Rescue NSW
Mark started my career with the NSW Police Cadets in 1975 at 16 years of age. In 1990, Mark joined NSW Fire Brigades which became Fire & Rescue NSW. Mark has been a fire fighter for 28 years, specialising in Hazardous Materials/CBR, and have attended major incidents including the 1997 Thredbo Landslide, 2009 Black Saturday Fires and 2011 Christchurch Earthquake. 2014 saw himself diagnosed with Chronic PTSD and Compassion Fatigue. In 2015, he was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for my voluntary work in Peer Support and Relief and Welfare.
